DR Chaplain app

ANDROID PRIVACY POLICY

The DR Chaplain app is the Chaplain interface to the Chaplain Deployment Support System (CDSS).

The app uses Location and Camera services of the Android device.  The app requires a valid, and previously known to CSSS, email address for authorisation (step 1 of 2-step).

LOCATION: When the Chaplain is using the app to report their Status to the CDSS, the Chaplain is given the option of including their current location (lat, long).  This information will be transmitted to the CDSS and available for analysis by authorised Duty Officers of the CDSS.

CAMERA: The Chaplain is given the option / opportunity to use the camera on the Android Device to upload a photograph to the CDSS.  The intended use of this is to help document expenses that may be incurred by the Chaplain.  This information will be transmitted to the CDSS and available for analysis by authorised Duty Officers of the CDSS.

EMAIL ADDRESS:  The Chaplain is required to authorise the app when it is installed on their Android Device.  The entered email address is compared to known email addresses in the CDSS and, if found as known, will have the CDSS issue a verification code by SMS to the Chaplain’s known mobile number.  This one-time code is then used by the Chaplain to complete a 2-Step authorisation sequence.

DATA STORAGE:  The LOCATION information is discarded by the app once it has been transmitted to the CDSS.  The CAMERA is overwritten by the app when a new image is captured by the app, only the latest image is held.  The EMAIL ADDRESS is discarded by the app once it has been transmitted to the CDSS.

DATA is held securely by the CDSS.  Transmission between the app and the CDSS is SSL encrypted.  The CDSS Data File is password protected and uses Encryption At Rest to protect any off-line copies (backups).
